Every House extension will involve the design and selection of about eight basic constructional elements. These are, foundations, ground floor, first floor, external walls, internal walls or partitions, roof, abutment details and services.  Beyond that there isn't really much else other than for the external landscaping and perahps highway access.  This being the main nuts and bolts of a house extension.

  Pitched roof house extensions are perhaps the most common of extension roof designs. They are generally more pleasing than flat roofs and often have a longer life span before they need maintenance or repair.
• Flat roofs
  
  Flat roof house extensions are making a bit of a comeback recently. This is due to their contemporary styling especially if mixed with the use of glazed too lights and good detailing.
